LOVE, MUSIC, FAMILY, AND GOD

Reverend Vernell Weston and his lovely wife, Reverend Penny Weston, members of Second Missionary Baptist Church in Mexico, MO; started out as a family ministry along with their daughter, VerShay. As God began elevating this family, Rev. Weston accepted his calling into the ministry in 2012. From that calling, it allowed him to become the associate minister at Second Christian Church in Fulton, MO, which is overseen by Pastor Cedric Harris. As God continued to elevate him, the elevation also lifted with his wife, Rev. Penny Weston; she also accepted her calling into the ministry in May of 2014.

God, being who He is, continued blessing and moving the Weston’s to various churches to spread the message of God's love; through music ministry and preaching. The final race was won when He chose to place them at Second Christian Church in Jefferson City, MO as Pastor and Co-Pastor. The Lord saw fit to have the two of them be ordained, together, on June 6, 2015, in Second Christian of Fulton, MO.

And on July 12, 2015 the Westons were officially installed as Second Christian Church's new pastors and from then it's been truly a match made in Heaven.

MR. VERNELL WESTON

Many words could describe Pastor Vernell Weston, but first and foremost he is a devoted husband of CoPastor Penny Weston, and father to VerShay Weston; but he is also a man who is truly after God’s own heart.

Though he is now the senior pastor of Second Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Jefferson City now, Pastor Weston began his spiritual journey at Second Baptist Church of Mexico, MO; it is there were he initially accepted the ‘calling’. But Pastor Weston left his home church and began to pursue his ministry at Second Christian Church in Fulton, MO; it is there where he also received his license in 2012. Pastor Weston, along with his wife was also ordained there on June 26, 2015. Then installed, with his wife, as pastor and co pastor at Second Christian Church in Jefferson, City, MO on July 12, 2015.

He’s also currently studying and involved in courses at Central Christian College in Moberly,MO.

Pastor Weston, along with his wife, and daughter, VerShay, initially began spreading the gospel as musical trio, called the ‘The Weston Ministry’; if you ask him, Pastor Weston will gladly tell you that music was his first love. And since being called, he has consistently been spreading the gospel all over the Midwest, whether it is through song or through a good Word from on high.

God sent this man on a mission, and that’s to help build God’s kingdom, not only just by pastoring his own church, ‘God’s Church’. But also by spreading the knowledge and love of an almighty and powerful God to the community and beyond.

MRS. PENNY D. WESTON

Along with the being First Lady and CoPastor of Second Christian Church, Pastor Penny Weston is also a devoted wife, mother of three, and grandmother.

Pastor Weston began her spiritual journey at Second Missionary Baptist Church in Mexico, MO. Though she brought up in the Methodist faith, she was baptized a Baptist and became the pastor of non-denominational church of Christ. All in all, she loves the Lord and serves Him wherever she goes.

Her ministry initially began in music with her husband, Pastor Vernell Weston and daughter, VerShay; the trio had a family music ministry that traveled around the Midwest promoting their love and devotion of Christ. It is in 2012 when her husband accepted his calling to become a minister, and she receiving hers in May of 2014.

Mrs. Weston has seen her share of heartache and pain; she received her greatest test when lost her middle daughter, Brandy, unexpectedly in 2012. Though this made her question God and shook her faith, the Lord renewed in her a sense of comfort and understanding, and He showed her that though Brandy was not with her physically, that Brandy was safe with Him and that a piece of her baby girl would be carried in her heart.
